Jacqueline “Jacquie” Luthcke attended Ohio University and graduated with honors majoring in Sociology with a Criminology specialty and a minor in psychology. It was there that she started volunteering for the Red Cross, which she continued to do for the next 20+ years. She taught many instructor level classes and sat on various boards during that 20 years. Jacquie was hired by the Ridgewood Police Department as a police officer in 1996 and after spending time on patrol, in the detective bureau, the professional standards unit, and being heavily involved in community policing, she rose through the ranks with promotions in 2005 to Sergeant, 2008 to Lieutenant, 2010 to Captain and finally 2016 to Chief, a position she help until her retirement in 2023. While with the department, she attended the West Point Command and Leadership training offered by the New Jersey State Association Chief’s of Police where she graduated top in class and received the Chief Harry Wilde Academic Achievement Award. Jacquie is a Past President of the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition, where she is still a board member. She spent time as a Commissioner with the New Jersey State Association Chief’s of Police Law Enforcement Accreditation/Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Alliance Program. In addition, she was also an assessor with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), where she went out and inspected other police departments across the nation to ensure they were following the best practice guidelines put out by CALEA and was a Team Leader in the state program. Jacquie was involved in numerous committees in Ridgewood, including the Community Relations Advisory Board, Fourth of July Committee, PRIDE and the Interfaith Ministry. In addition to the NJPSAC, she is on the advisory committees for the Center for Hope and Safety and for the Bergen Community College Law Enforcement and Homeland Security group. In her spare time, Jacquie enjoys reading, scuba diving, attending concerts, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
